Review : "Romans"
Nothing too much to gloat about, malayalam movie "Romans" especially in a tone it made looks bit ordinary amount of effort, but at last the laugh factor saves the proceedings with some fine rendering of characters by Kunchako Boban and Biju Menon. On a note "Romans" imparts some good fun...
Two man Akash (Kunchako Boban) and Shibu (Biju Menon) are small time criminals and escaped from the police hand, when they are being on the way to other jail. Apparently circumstances takes them to
the remote village located around Kerala and Tamil Nadu Border. Local inhabitants in the village looks funny and meant for the comedy, believe that Akash and Shibu are being sent by Bishop to open the closed church.
Now, the characters have been changed by Akash become Fr. Paul and Shibu became Fr. Sebastian, Both of them lands up in a church, where no priest has exist for the long years due to its haunted atmosphere. Amicably both take villagers to their belief with their magical powers, that leads to the interesting twist in the tale...
Don't need to find the story, just go through the humor, that's the basic of Y.V.Rajesh's script, which doesn't offer anything rather then a comic version. Boban Samuel tries something different, although the long duration could be the minus point, but the narration suits this comic caper. Vinod Illampilly's camera works gave the ample support and some fine editing by Lijo Paul interest the things in a better way.
Biju Menon stole the limelight with his dialogues in this combo, where Kunchako Boban as usual done his best to support the character. As it seems "Romans" couldn't be of its taste without Chackochan and Biju Menon. Niveda Thomas, Lalu Alex, Vijaya Raghavan, T.G.Ravi, Kochupreman, Nelson, Jaffar Iddukki and others played their parts as usual. Songs are nice with the touch of M.Jayachandran and lyrics by Rajeev Allunkal. For the banner of Chand V.Creations, Arun Ghosh and Bijoy Chandran are the producers of this malayalam movie "Romans".
If you have gone through this malayalam film "Romans", then don't forget to put on your words here......
