"Artist" Malayalam movie review
'Artistic skills of one's own get into the stage of euphoria to come out with wonderful work'. This may be the words we can illustrate about Shyamaprasad's latest "Artist" Malayalam movie. The director has painted the characters with utmost sincerity within the span of relations based on Paritosh Uttam's novel "Dreams in Prussian Blue". Fine visual display and splendid performances from the cast makes this movie a best one. "Artist" deserve your time..., go for it..
Move onto the sketches..., Gayathri (Ann Augustine) hails from traditional Brahmin family, who joins fine arts college, where
her senior is Michael (Fahadh Faasil). Smitten by the charms and work of Michael, Gayathri kind of fell in love with him, on the other Michael is almost lost in his own world. Both of them start living together despite of both's family shown their dissent on this issue. Especially Michael's father, who is a businessman and strictly against this relationship.
Michael paints his own imaginative place, for sometime the arrogant one in him argues with Gayathri and she bears all the pain in this relationship. But the difficult phase came for Gayathri through accident of Michael and by which she have to emerge as strong in this circumstances to support him. Rest of this plot moves through Gayathri's perspective to keep up the same enthusiasm in Michael and not to give up his delightful imaginative world.
Well recently Fahadh Faasil has stated that "its my way of working" and by that he just rooted his place for offbeat characters. Again Fahadh is known for his impressive rendering and presented the same here in "Artist". Ann Augustine put on the brilliant display of acting and the way she portrayed the character is watchable one. Sreeram Ramachandran, Srinda Ashab, Krishnachandran, Sidharth Siva, Vanitha and others have maintained quality of story telling by their respective characters. Songs are nice with the touch of Bijibal and lyrics have written by Rafeeq Ahmed.
Director Shyamaprasad deserves full credit for creating the ambience needed for this kind of plot and emotionally restrain the characters by which viewers can count upon the situation. Shyam dutt's cinematography provides the unique touch to the scenes and the editing needs a mention here, cuts from Vinod Sukumaran deserves applause. For the banner of Sunitha Productions, M Mani is the producer of this film.
