"1983" Malayalam movie review
'Bingo.. It's a sixer', Fashion photographer turned director Abrid Shine's first directorial venture "1983" Malayalam movie leave a wistful affection that may have been perceived by everyone during their teenage. This film finds success in sprouting intense enjoyment, which cherish the blissful moments of '1983' Cricket world cup. We appreciate the effort of whole unit, who have come up with this impassioned cinema. Therefore a thumbs up... and don't miss this catch....
Story here reflects a village in old times, where the group of friends
tends to opt for cricket after India's mesmerizing victory at 1983's world cup. Their affinity towards this sport forms a team of Rameshan (Nivin Pauly), Pappan (Saiju Kurup), Mantle Johny (Kalabhavan Prajod), Babukuttan (Sanju), Prahaladan (Neeraj Madhav), Saji (Dinesh) and others. Although Rameshan's father Gopi Ashaan (Joy Mathew) had his dream of seeing his son becoming an engineer.
Meanwhile cricket has now cemented a place in heart of Rameshan, where he almost set aside his school day love Manjula (Nikki Galrani), who later gets married to NRI. Coming up of age, he oversees the mechanical shop of his father, while his family and friends pressurize him to marry Susheela (Srindaa Ashab). Moreover to that Susheela didn't know anything about 'Sachin Tendulkar'.
Now the period has changed with Rameshan sees himself in his son Kannan after knowing his interest in cricket. In turn he takes Kannan to a cricket coach Vijay Menon (Anoop Menon), which weave the rest of this movie.
Abrid Shine together with Bipin Chandran, develops that incandescence in the script which stays flawless around the frames. One must admit that director has engraved his experience through out the visuals and the lead character's moving stage of life has been adapted beautifully by cinematographer Pradeesh M Varma. Editing stays crisp with the hands of Manoj. Lovely music and background score are surely emerged with cheers, which has been given by Gopi Sunder.
Nivin Pauly maintained the expressions of his character pretty nicely, where the whole movie revolves around him. Jacob Gregory scores again with his character of 'Sachin' with few doses of humour. Nikki Galrani and Srindaa Ashab was there with their delicate rendering. Anoop Menon seems to have judged his character subtly. Joy Mathew, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Kalabhavan Prajod, Seema G Nair, Shine Tom Chacko, Tini Tom and others have given their best to their respective roles. Shams Films banner, T R Shamsudheen is the producer of this Malayalam film "1983", which has been distributed by L J Films.
