Thilakan says good bye to Malayalam Cinema......
Malayalam veteran actor Thilakan leaves the arena of cinema world and stage as he breathes his last at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on today (Sept 24) in the wee hours. 77 year old actor died here following a heart attack. Last month, he was hospitalized for multiple organ failure following a pneumonia, since then the actor was on ventilator. Thilakan was regarded as one of the great actors that Indian Cinema ever came across.
Thilakan's body kept for public viewing at V.J.T. Hall in Thiruvanathapuram from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Cremation took place around at 4 :30 p.m. in Thaikkad Shanthi Kavadam, Thiruvananathapuram.

Padmashri recepient of 2009, Thilakan receives 9 Kerala state awards with continuous four times Best second actor award won by him in the year 85 - Yathra, 86 - Panchagni, 87 - Thaniyavarthanam, 88 - Mukthi, Dhwani. In 1990 "Perumthachan" performance won him the Best Actor award for Kerala State, meanwhile same he lost in the National Award due to some political issues and award lands up for Amitabh Bachchan. 1994 bring him the Best Actor Award for Kerala state with the movie "Gamanam" and "Santhanagopalam".
In the National Award category, Thilakan receives Best Supporting Actor for 1988 released malayalam movie "Hrithubhedam". On 2007, National Jury bestowed upon himwith Special Jury Award for the movie "Ekantham".
Surendranath Thilakan born on 1935 in Ayroor, which is now in Pathanamthitta district. Thilakan shared the screen with four generation actors of malayalam cinema, while it is Prem Nazir, Madhu, Mohanlal, Bharath Gopi, Mammootty, Jayaram, Suresh Gopi or its been Kunchako Boban, Prithviraj, Indrajith. Thilakan's last movie may be "Ardhanaari", as he completed his scenes and during this he got hospitalized. Even Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan shared the screen space in "Ustad Hotel" with this genius actor of Indian Cinema.
