Review : "Pattam Pole"
Same old love story has sketched by cinematographer turned director Alagappan, which we have come across many times during past decade. The difference here is just presentation has changed a bit with modern outlook, nothing else and makers have forgotten that just visual attraction can't pull the movie to the hit status. At the end Malayalam movie "Pattam Pole" is just an average one.....
Here story speaks out the changing attitude of two young people, who are in love and the two lovers are Karthi (Dulquer Salmaan) and Riya (Malavika Mohanan), who decides to elope
after fearing that their families were wouldn't accept their relation. Both of them reach Ootty and stays at a hotel, Karthi hails from Tamil brahmin and Riya comes from Christian background. They spend together a fine time till the moment which bring on the stiff in their relation and it turns sour after a scuffle between them. This breakup leads them to go back to their families.
After this incident, Karthi and Riya kind of hate seeing each other, on the other families are worried about their future. Riya's father Mathews (Lalu Alex) and Karthi's father Ramanathan (Jayaprakash) tries to sort out the problems between their children and the things turn to right path when Karthi and Riya get the job in same event management company owned by Michael Rosario (Anoop Menon), afterwards what happens forms the rest of this movie.
Dulquer Salmaan rendered his character amicably, which wasn't looked challenging enough especially for him, who already holds a chocolate image. Malavika Mohanan throughout the movie gave her best and rightly so as it was her debut in Malayalam cinema. Archana Kavi also maintained the best of her character, which bring on some value towards story telling. Lalu Alex, Jayaprakash, Anoop Menon, Meera Krishna, Seetha, Nandhu, Shradha Gokul and others have justified their characters. Music is at the okay level with the hands of M Jayachandran.
Alagappan does his best in cinematography, where he maintained the class, otherwise his direction fails largely may be of poor script from K Gireesh Kumar, which reminds you of many romantic movies in Malayalam cinema. Alagappan moulded the visuals pretty charming way with the beautiful picturesque of Alappuzha. Editing wasn't up to the mark with the hands of Raja Mohammed. For the banner of Carlton Films, Karunakaran is the producer of this Malayalam movie "Pattam Pole", which is being distributed through Kalasangham Kas.
