Review : "Kadhaveedu"
The feel of that stories of three great Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer, M T Vasudevan Nair and Madhavikutty, are missing here in Sohonlal's directorial "Kadhaveedu" Malayalam movie. Attempt to establish a chord between the narratives is somewhat goes wayward. This movie could have been more interesting if it added more value to the story telling. On a verdict side, "Kadhaveedu" portmanteau movie, is an average one.......
The story here deals with the life of film director Raj Karthi (Kunchacko Boban), who is going to make his first movie and
on the other, his live in relationship with Jeena (Bhama), persistently lands him in two minds. Jeena works as journalist, who wants that Raj to marry her as soon as possible. Raj has kind of lost in his cinema world and more of sceptical about their marriage. Thereafter we see that his directorial movie taking place with first story speaks out the life of Abdul Khadar (Manoj K Jayan) and Jameela (Mallika) in the background that exist during the old times and how they manage their relation during those times.
Now we have the second plot of his movie which narrates the romantic life of Major Fredrick (Lal) and Rita (Riuparnasen Gupta) and how Raj fell in the fascination of Rita, where all these things were remembered by Raj. In the third section, we have the life of Balachandran (Biju Menon), who has finding hard to believe the demise of his wife and living with his three kids to move ahead in life. In this effort of making movie, Raj evoke that how much Jeena valued to him, which takes you to climax of this "Kadhaveedu".
Sohanlal deserves the credit to bringing this three class stories to his script and the significance lay upon in each writers work. Here the problem is with interpretation which went out of box and that may be the reason that narration looks a meagre level. T D Sreenivasan's visual are top notch, while editing looks out of touch. M Jayachandran's music also suites the occasion, where the lyrics were written by O N V Kurup and Sohanlal.
Kunchacko Boban manage the character that needs to look more complex, while Bhama didn't look comfortable in her character. Manoj K Jayan, Lal, Biju Menon, Mallika, Rituparnasen Gupta, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Swapna Menon and others have given their usual to their respective characters. It wasn't look that the characters had posed any real challenge to the actors side. For the banner of Visual Dreams, Jos Thomas and Job Umman are the producers of this Malayalam movie "Kadhaveedu".
