"Njaan" Malayalam movie review
If you think that film is all for entertainment, then "Njaan" Malayalam movie is going to put you in a discomfort zone. For sure it is not everybody's cup of tea, director Ranjith succeeded in placing script within quaint ambience, but on execution term, it won't keep things in tandem. At last you ended up with the feel that it could have been better then this one...., Overall "Njan" turns out an average fare.
Story here revolves around in the backdrop of T P Rajeevan's novel 'K T N
Kottoor Ezhuthum Jeevithavum'. In this plot, we have Ravi Chandrashekharan (Dulquer Salmaan), a young man with his perspectives in current generation. He involves in writing at online medium, who pseudonymously writes his blog under the name of Kottur.
Also a theatre artist Ravi decides to explore more about K T N Kottur (Dulquer Salmaan) through a play. He wants to bring another aspect of K T N's life in front of present society. It moves through India's freedom struggle and during this period's social and political growth in 'Kottur' village and thereon it forms the rest of the narration.
On technical basis movie scores maximum, where Ranjith as master filmmaker, has materialized the right proportion. In the narration, first half sails smoothly, while in the second it kind of drags a bit and the effect was monotonous. Scripting part was well versed with emotions and humour.
Visual composition of Manoj Pillai was superb and there are some fine cuts from editor Sandeep Nandakumar. Special mention for art director Santhosh Raman for his work. Nice blend of songs from Bijibal and Rafeeq Ahamed team.
On performance side, Dulquer Salmaan has justified his character to some extent may be because of split role in between him. Renji Panicker and Muthumani's character are simply magnificent. Otherwise Anumol, Sajitha Madathil, Suresh Krishna, Saiju Kurup, Harish Perady, Jyothi Krishna, Shruthi Ramachandran, Irshad and others were just apt with their respective characters.
For the banner of Gold Coin Motion Pictures, Ranjith Balakrishnan is the producer of this film.
