NL Balakrishnan passed away

Famous still photographer and Malayalam actor N L Balakrishnan passed away yesterday (25th Dec.). 72 year old actor was hospitalized after being diagnosed with cancer and diabetes related problems. He died at Thiruvananthapuram's Medical College Hospital and his career spanned almost 5 decades in Malayalam cinema.

 Narayanan Lakshmi Balakrishnan made his entry into the film world with Malayalam movie
"Kallichellamma" (released in 1967) as still photographer. As a photographer, he had worked with legendary filmmakers like P Bhaskaran, John Abraham, K P Kumaran, Adoor Balakrishnan, P Padmarajan, Bharathan, K G George and G Aravindan.

 In this span, he had also served as news photographer in Kerala Kaumudi. In 1986, with Rajiv Anchal directed movie "Ammanam Kili", he made his acting debut. 

 As an actor, "Orkaappurathu", "Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal", "Pattanapravesham", "Kouthukavaarthakal", "Kallanum Policum", "Mookilla Rajyathu", "Malootty", "Kavadiyattam", "Spadikam", "Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka", "Joker", "Made in USA", "Thirakatha", "2 Harihar Nagar", "Da Thadiya", "Kanyaka Talkies" include to his name.

 His last film was Mammootty starrer "Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus" in 2013. Kerala Film Critics Association's award of Chalachitra Pratibha and Kerala Lalithakala Akademi special award was also conferred upon to his name.
